Morning Line: Growing in Love

Morning Line: Growing in Love!!

“Your love for one another is growing.”  2Thessalonians 1:3 When Paul says, “

Your love for one another is growing,” it’s not the kind where life’s perfect and everybody accommodates you. God’s intention is to “grow” you into the kind of love that’s not defined by your feelings, but a sacrificial love that says

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me” (Gal 2:20 NIV).

It’s possible to be in love with the idea of a perfect marriage, without actually loving your mate. Or the dream of what your kids could become if only they’d follow your advice. But when it comes to loving a rebellious teen who acts like “the other side of the family,” it’s a growing process that puts your love to the test.

Jesus said, “As I have loved you…you must love one another” (Jn 13:34 NIV), and He never asks us to do anything without giving us the ability to do it. So are you ready to do a little growing? Author Kristin Armstrong says: “When we’re hurt it’s common to withdraw. But the worst thing a parent can do is withhold affection in response to a child’s behavior. A child’s heart grows when it’s nurtured with unconditional love. Affection doesn’t depend on behavior, mood, or circumstances. Being pleasing does not equate to being lovable. Imagine if Jesus loved us only when we behaved perfectly. We’d never experience His affection, and consequently, we’d wither away. And since Jesus is our example, we need to love others with Christ-like grace. He loves us according to His capacity, not according to the degree of our merit. We must love others…not by our standards but by His.” By B Gass

Ponder this lesson, pray Lord help me love and wrap my arms around the ones that test my ability to extend grace, mercy, and Christ-like Love.

“How long, O Lord, must I call for help?”    Habakkuk 1:2 NIV

Waiting for your vision to start or to find a solution to a problem you’re facing, or for signs of fulfillment to a promise? You’re not the first to struggle with the idea of waiting and when you get what you’re waiting for, you’ll begin waiting for something else. If there’s one word that defines life and Christian living, it’s – waiting and beginning.

God said to Habakkuk, “…revelation awaits an appointed time…“Though it lingers, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay” (Habakkuk 2:3 NIV)

Why did God say that? He was answering the prophet’s question, “How long, O Lord, must I call for help….?” Waiting for things to change isn’t easy. So while you’re waiting? Pour yourself into the job at hand; otherwise, you’ll shortchange your own future.

“Be patient…See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains….being patient and standing firm” (James 5:7-8 NIV).

What God has in store for you is worth all seasons of waiting.

We have this promise He who has begun a good work in you will complete it as let go and let His perfect timing unfold it. Don’t fret over tomorrow, mount up and go win today’s race.

Morning Line: He did it for You

Morning Line: He did it for You!

“…My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?” Matthew 27:46 NKJV

Imagine having to stand on a stage and watch every sin you’ve ever committed replayed for the entire world to see – secret addictions, selfish motives, angry outbursts, critical attitudes, and a jealous heart.

How do you think you’d feel?

Well, Jesus experienced much worse. The Bible says: ‘He…bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness by whose stripes you were healed (1Peter 2:24 NKJV).

It’s bad enough to die for sins you didn’t commit, but imagine being forsaken by God! Does that mean the Psalmist was wrong when he wrote: ‘…I have never seen the righteous forsaken…’ (Psalms 37:25 NIV)?

No, because at that moment Jesus was anything but righteous. When you look at Him hanging there you will see the gossiper, the liar, the cheater, the alcoholic, the porn addict, the child abuser, the murderer. Does it bother you to see His name linked with theirs? Well, Jesus did even more. He put Himself in their place and yours. In a move that broke God’s heart and gave us the gift of eternal life, He poured out His righteous judgment on His only Son. So when Jesus cried from the cross, ‘My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?’ He said it so that you would never have to. What wondrous love.

Receive Him as Savior and take daily time to know the God the Father, Son the Redeemer, Holy Spirit your teacher/ guide,  you will be more than glad you did.

Thought to Ponder: Process It

Process It

Your thought processes.  ‘People out of shape mentally fall victim to ideas and systems that are destructive to the human spirit. By not learning how to think, set themselves to be dependent upon the thoughts and opinions of others. Rather than deal with ideas and issues, discerning the truth and motives being told to them blindly follow and find themselves in a ditch and under someone’s thumb.

Don’t be a sheep led to slaughter, process. Ask questions, do some research, and pray for discernment.  You will be glad you did.

It’s your life

Morning Line: Sound Thinking

;

Morning Line: Sound Thinking!

 “God has…given us…a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV

The Bible says, ‘God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.’ In order to improve you must change two things:

(1) Your thought processes.  ‘People out of shape mentally fall victim to ideas and systems that are destructive to the human spirit. By not learning how to think, set themselves to be dependent upon the thoughts and opinions of others. Rather than deal with ideas and issues,

(2) Your expectations. The story’s told of a man who went to a fortune teller. She said to him, ‘You’ll be poor and miserable until you’re fifty.’ The man asked her, ‘What will happen then?’ She replied, ‘Then you’ll get used to it.’

Be honest; how many successful people do you know who are apathetic and negative? Faith produces excitement, commitment, and energy; characteristics that help you achieve success. If you’d like to possess these qualities then raise your expectation level and bring it into alignment with God’s promises.

‘…Whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them (Mark 11:24 NKJV).

Do you want to succeed where you’ve failed before?  Don’t start by changing your actions, start by changing your mind. Renew it daily with God’s Word. Nothing you do will have as great an impact on moving you to God’s best for you.

The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your needs in parched places,
and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden,
like a spring of water, whose waters never fail. Isaiah 58:11(NRSVCE)

Morning Line: Up Close & Personal

Morning Line: Up Close & Personal

Father-Son-Spirit is inviting you to come closer to have a first-hand relationship with them. You don’t have to settle for sound bites, second-hand information, or a long-distance relationship. You can get ‘up close and personal.

John writes, ‘That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.’

Drawing closer to God by developing a greater awareness of His presence in meditation brings great benefits: (1) Friendship. No human being can be everything you need. But God can. He is a ‘friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24 NIV). He will stick by you through every season of life, the bad and the good.  (2) Stand in confidence in the promises whatever life throws at you, “you can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13 NKJV).

Reach into your spirit the Holy Spirit is right there with you. His peace and grace are with you. You matter and your life matters. I am praying for your Father- Son- Spirit connection to fill your spirit, mind, heart, and soul in a very special way today with confidence and peace.

Rejoice into Victory

Rejoice into Victory

Rejoice, be grateful for what you have, and trust Father, Son, and Spirit will bring you what you need and what is best for you.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.

Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.              Philippians 4:4-7 (NRSVCE)

Morning Line: Grace

Morning Line: Grace

“Grace be unto you, and peace, from God…” 1 Corinthians 1:3

“Grace and peace be unto you from God.”

One cannot experience God’s peace unless one first knows how to receive His grace and walk in it. There’re three things about grace to understand:

 (1) It cannot be earned

(2) It’s God doing for you what you can’t do for yourself.

(3) It doesn’t kick in until you stop struggling, trying in your own strength.

James 4:6 . The ‘humble’ are those who admit their total inability to succeed without God’s help. Peter writes: one grows in grace by trusting God by taking God at His Word, counting on His gracious provision and intervention in situations difficult or impossible. There will never be a day when we don’t need God’s grace and if we are willing to acknowledge we need it we receive it with no shortage of it.

‘For out of His fullness we have all received… grace… spiritual blessing…and favor …’ John 1:16.

My Strength & Shield

My Strength & Shield

I lift up my eyes to the hills—
from where will my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
He who keeps Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

 The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

 The Lord will keep you from all evil;
    he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time on and forevermore.
