Morning Line: Holy Spirit and Prayer

^“ If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit^[a] to those who ask him!” Luke 11:13 (NRSVCE)

Christ Jesus had just said in Luke 11:9, “Ask and it shall be given”. God’s giving is inseparably connected with our asking. He applies this, especially to the Holy Spirit. As surely as a father on earth gives bread to his child, God gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. The whole working of the Spirit is ruled by one great Law: God must give it, and we must ask for it. When the Holy Spirit was poured out at Pentecost with a flow that never ceases, it was in answer to prayer. The inflow into the believer’s heart and His overflow into the rivers of living water still depend on the Law, “Ask and it shall be given”

Friend what is you need today, the Father, Son, Spirit are always with you. Humbling bow your head open your heart and spirit and pray Father God, fill me fresh today with a fresh overflow of your Spirit guiding and directing my path. Friend whatever you need is today, your answer is in God’s Word and promise, by the spirit in prayer. “ Ask expectantly and it shall be given” Read Luke 11: 9-13.
